the fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide belonging to the family of the phenylpyrazoles. It acts by inhibiting GABA complex, by binding to the chloride channel and thus blocking the passage postsynaptic preet chlorides ions through the cell membrane. This translates by uncontrolled central nervous system activity and by the death of insects or mites. Fipronil is an insecticide activity and acaricide against fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.), ticks (Rhipicephalus SP., Ixodes SP.) and lice (Wigdor SP.) and Felicola SP. in the dog and cat. In vitro fipronil is primarily metabolized in its derivative sulfone (RM1602), which also has insecticidal properties and acaricides. This fipronil on hair concentrations decrease with time.
in dogs: treatment of infestations by fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.) and ticks (Dermacentor reticulatus).
insecticidal efficacy against re-infestation by adult fleas persists up to 8 weeks. The acaricide efficiency persists up to 4 weeks against ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes ricinus, Dermacentor reticulatus).
if ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Ixodes ricinus) species are present at the time of application of the product, they may not be all killed in the first 48 hours, but will be during the first week. Product can be integrated in a treatment program for treatment of dermatitis by hypersensitivity to flea (D.H.P.P.) if it has been previously diagnosed by a veterinarian.
route of administration and dosage. Use external only.
apply the product directly on the skin to the weight of the animal, as follows :
. 1 pipette of 0.67 ml for a dog weighing between 2 kg and 10 kg.
. 1 pipette of 1.34 ml for a dog weighing between 10 kg and 20 kg.
. 1 pipette of 2.68 ml for a dog weighing 20 kg-40 kg.
. 1 pipette of 4.02 ml for a dog weighing between 40 kg and 60 kg.
. For dogs weighing more than 60 kg, use two pipette of 2.68 ml.
ensure to apply the product on an area that the animal cannot lick and make sure that animals do is lecheront not between them after treatment.
do not apply an excessive amount of product on a same point to prevent hair from becoming sticky. However, if this happens, sticky appearance will disappear within 24 hours after application. White deposits can appear on the application site up to 48 hours after the application.
to effectively combat infestations by fleas and ticks, the regimen may take into account the local epidemiological situation. In the absence of safety studies, the minimum treatment interval is 4 weeks.
do not use in puppies and kittens aged of less than 2 months and/or weighing less than 2 kg in the absence of available information. Do not use sick (systemic diseases, fever...) or convalescent animals. Do not use in rabbits because sometimes lethal side effects can occur. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, or one of the excipients.
if the animal licks, a brief episode of hypersalivation may be observed, mainly related to the nature of the solvent. Among suspected adverse reactions, transient cutaneous reactions at the level of the site application (skin discoloration, local alopecia, pruritus, Erythema) and cases of general pruritis or alopecia have been reported after use. These effects are extremely rare. The case of hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperesthesia, depression, nervous symptoms) or vomiting were exceptionally observed after use.
